about

Ah, the sea. Its hallowed depths and beautiful mysteries, both dark and luminous. Tashtego was inspired by a later-in-life reading of Moby Dick and named for one of the Pequod’s harpooners who (SPOILER ALERT) goes down with the ship in a last act of manic devotion. The track employs some common sea song elements in its time signatures and modes and aims to evoke the majestic and dangerous duality of the ocean represented so compellingly in this singular, bizarre book.
